Ileana Gómez and Carlos Rivero place dance at the center of a performance that explores rhythm, presence, and the relationship between two bodies on stage. “Materia” draws on the codes of flamenco to open them up to new expressive possibilities, without losing the power and authenticity that underpin each “llamada.” Raúl Jiménez accompanies the singing with a performance that adds depth to the on-stage dialogue, while Juan José Ramos or Claudio Villanueva round out the ensemble on guitar. The result is a week in which dance, voice, and guitar interplay freely, yet always with the compás as their common ground.
