Teatro Magno

A few steps from Sol is located the Teatro Magno, a space full of history conceived as a direct architectural witness of the social and cultural life of the city of Madrid during the last century.

The leading figures of the Antonio Gades company regularly take to the stage in an attempt to fuse the best of traditional and avant-garde flamenco in a space with shades of clandestinity where kings, politicians, artists and all kinds of celebrities have passed through during the endless nights of the capital.

In 1907, the architect Luis López devised the initial plan that would give shape to a project that would be completed in 1920 by Luis Ferrero Tomás. The story goes that King Alfonso XIII bought and gave the theater to his beloved Carmen Moragas, actress, educated woman, traveled and businesswoman. A small corner in the center of Madrid to go to see each other and spend time together.

Throughout its more than one hundred years of history, this emblematic building located very close to the Cibeles fountain has been transforming and evolving, hosting the first women's fronton of the capital, but also serving as a theater, cinema, cabaret and even a nightclub.

After a thorough renovation in which the designs of the early twentieth century have been respected to the maximum, the Teatro Magno retains many of its original elements and part of its original vocation. Its more than 600 square meters divided into three floors can boast the highest technology and spectacular decoration in spaces such as its different rooms, staircases, stalls, boxes and stage.

In addition to functioning as a discotheque practically all week long, on the third floor there is an open-plan room with a capacity for up to 340 people where it is possible to hold events, with its own service bar, checkroom and exclusive toilets.
