Flamenco, Cultural Heritage of Humanity
Learn the 5 reasons why flamenco fooled UNESCO
In 2010 UNESCO recognized Flamenco as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This category is composed of expressions that illustrate the diversity of intangible heritage and contribute to a greater awareness of its importance.
Here we tell you the 5 reasons why flamenco fooled UNESCO:
Flamenco is strongly rooted in their community, which strengthens their cultural identity and allows it to be transmitted from generation to generation.
Their inscription on the Representative List could increase awareness of intangible cultural heritage, while fostering human creativity and mutual respect among communities.
Both ongoing and proposed measures demonstrate the efforts made by regional governments, institutions, NGOs, communities and individuals to ensure the safeguarding of the flamingo.
Active participation and engagement of communities and individuals, whose broad consensus is demonstrated by their free, prior and informed consent.
Flamenco is registered in the General Register of Cultural Heritage of the Region of Murcia, established by the Directorate General of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage of the Autonomous Region of Murcia.
We invite you to take a look at our agenda to let yourself also be fooled by the flamenco programming at Region of Madrid.
