Singing

Singing is the vehicle of flamenco expression along with guitar and dance. The flamenco voice is unmistakable.

In flamenco we do not talk about singers, there are cantaores and cantaoras. There are no songs either, only cantes. Many of its lyrics are popular and come from ancient times, others are by authors who have been inspired by the flamenco character.

Flamenco singing brings back memories of experiences and its coplas tell us things that only words can't reach. Lyrics that speak of love, loneliness, joy, sorrow, happiness, family, life... the feelings of the human being.

The singers, in addition to knowledge of the styles, must have technical and expressive conditions within the reach of very few.
