Discovering flamenco

Flamenco was born in the south of Spain, a lively and passionate artistic expression where the tradition of different cultures, the Andalusian character and the notable influence of the gypsy people converge.

Flamenco is an art with deep roots that was consolidated in the south of Spain throughout the 19th century. Music and dances where the tradition of different cultures, the Andalusian character and the notable influence of the gypsy people converge. Passionate styles that are expressed through song, guitar and dance and that soon spread from Andalusia to other places such as Madrid.

That unique show captivated the public and the first professional artists emerged, forging an original and unprecedented repertoire that has come down to us.

In 2010 flamenco was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
